SANCCOB and WESSA ABB are joining forces for the May 2026 beach clean-up. It will be at the historic Cape Recife Lighthouse in the beautiful Cape Recife Nature Reserve, on this coming Saturday 16 May 2026 from 09:30 to 11:00
To get there, coming from Summerstrand, turn left off Marine Drive towards Pine Lodge. Drive past Pine Lodge and stop at the boom which is the entrance to the Cape Recife Nature Reserve. Tell the security person there that you are participating in the SANCCOB / WESSA beach clean-up and he or she will let you through. Drive past the SANCCOB penguin and coastal bird rehabilitation centre building and look out for the sign saying Lighthouse. At the Y junction, take the split to the left and follow the road until the parking lot. Look out for the WESSA feather banners and a lot of activity.
Please bring hats and sunscreen. Water and gloves have been kindly donated for this clean-up. We will provide the litter bags.
Please consider supporting the Perky Penguin coffee shop at the SANCCOB centre after the event.
