Bush

smell of woodsmoke from an open fire, there's something about
sleeping under canvas that enhances the magic of nights spent
in the African bush.

Tourism
feeds off the natural and cultural diversity of the planet.
It must contribute to its survival.
WESSA’s
Northern Areas office provides a nature travel advisory
and broking service to assist fellow wildlife enthusiasts
discover and enjoy the magic of Southern Africa’s
wilder places.
Why?
Ecotourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in international travel,
yet it is ironic that conservation organisations - which have been so
instrumental in the fight to preserve the wildlife sanctuaries that draw
visitors into the bush - enjoy little direct financial benefit from tourist
spending. This service seeks to generate funds for conservation projects
from commission earned by acting as the middleman between travellers
and the safari operators or establishments best equipped to satisfy their
specific needs.
Benefits
of using the service:
· As a long established conservation body, we have extensive contacts
in and knowledge about most aspects of nature tourism in Southern and East Africa.
· As an independent, non-profit body, we provide impartial advice and
assistance in planning trips into the bush. The operators and establishments
we recommend support nature conservation.
· The satisfaction of knowing that what WESSA earns for its assistance
is ploughed back into safeguarding our natural heritage.
Our modus
operandi:
We operate as a broker and facilitator, working closely with a network of
professional operators to plan itineraries and select destinations to meet
the needs of the prospective traveller. Once an itinerary or booking has
been finalised, the selected operator takes over.
Our
sphere of operations:
While Southern Africa is our core area of expertise, the operators we work
with are equipped to provide services throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
Safaris of every description: overland camping, lodge fly-ins, canoeing,
walking, horseback, elephant-back. Game viewing, birding, gorilla and chimpanzee
tracking, whale watching.
Accommodation in safari lodges and bush camps in National Parks and private
game reserves.
