The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is an international non-government, non-profit organisation. It promotes sustainable development through environmental education. FEE has a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations Environment Programme and its tourism-related programmes are recognised by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation.
WESSA is the only NGO partner implementing programmes on behalf of FEE in South Africa. Since 2001 we've implemented and managed the Blue Flag programme in partnership with local authorities, and since 2003 we've run the Eco-Schools programme, which is active in 59 countries around the world.
The Blue Flag programme focuses on the environmental management of our coastline and coastal waters to help tourism growth and development. Although its a voluntary eco-label, it's become an international symbol of quality for beaches, boats and marinas. READ MORE...
The Eco-Schools Programme supports environmental learning in the classroom and accredits schools that make a commitment to continously improve the environmental sustainability of the school and their surrounding communities.
