- WHERE WE OPERATE - The Society in the KZN Region consists of 16 membership branches throughout the province, and is administered through its Head Office at 100 Brand Road, Durban. The bulk of our extensive work in the Environmental Education field is performed at our 4 Centres located at: -
- * Umgeni Valley, Howick,
- * Twinstreams, Mtunzini, Zululand,
- * Treasure Beach, Bluff, Durban, and
- * Umbogavango, Umbogintwini, South Coast.
A map has been included on page 21 of the Society’s KZN Profile and this indicates clearly the various areas of our activities
- HOW WE OPERATE - The conservation aspect of our role in the Region is administered through a Conservation Co-ordinator operating out of the Head Office in Brand Road, Durban. The substantial Environmental Education component of our work is administered by qualified staff based at the 4 Centres listed above. The general administration of the Region is carried out by a Management and Finance Committee which falls under the policy direction of a Regional Committee which meets 3 times a year.
- WHO BENEFITS FROM OUR WORK - The current membership in KZN is slightly under 2,400 in a national total of approximately 7,000. The KZN membership is kept fully informed of all aspects of our work in the Region through the provincial magazine "WESSA KZN News". Probably the major beneficiaries of this work are the school learners who attend courses at our four Centres, environmental education facilities that have been administered by the Region for more than 30 years.
